Trenchless Pipe Rehabilitation

NUFLOW NORTHWEST SYDNEY
12 Yenda Avenue, Queens Park – WAVERLEY COUNCIL NSW

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Waverley Council engaged Nuflow to undertake rehabilitation works on a 300mm stormwater line at 12 Yenda Ave, Queens Park. The existing reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) had been impacted by root intrusion and structural deterioration, requiring trenchless repair to restore flow efficiency and extend the service life of the stormwater system.

The works involved thorough cleaning, CCTV inspection, and multiple sectional relines using Nuflow’s Blueline technology, chosen for its structural strength, flexibility, and trenchless application that minimises disruption to residents and council assets.

THE CHALLENGE

The project presented several challenges:

  • Root intrusion and structural defects identified during CCTV inspections.
  • Access limitations due to pit lids being covered by concrete and tight working spaces with stairs and narrow gate entries.
  • Resident coordination issues, including vehicles blocking access.
  • Technical setbacks during relining, weather delays, equipment adjustments, and the need for robotic cutting to remove sections of collapsed pipe.
  • Delays from weather impacting scheduled relining works.

These factors required flexible project management, additional site visits, and collaboration between the Nuflow team, council representatives, and residents to keep works progressing.

THE SOLUTION

Nuflow implemented a staged approach to overcome the obstacles and deliver a long-term rehabilitation solution:

THE RESULTS

The rehabilitation of the 300mm RCP stormwater line at 12 Yenda Ave was successfully completed, restoring the structural integrity and hydraulic performance of the asset. Nuflow’s Blueline technology provided a durable, trenchless solution that eliminated the need for disruptive excavation, ensuring the surrounding grassed areas, residential access, and council infrastructure were preserved throughout the process.

Despite access restrictions and unexpected weather setbacks, the project was delivered in line with Waverley Council’s specifications. Each stage was documented through CCTV inspections, providing transparency and assurance of the work’s quality.

The result is a cost-effective and sustainable outcome that extends the service life of the stormwater network while minimising long-term maintenance requirements. By opting for trenchless rehabilitation, Waverley Council achieved a future-proof solution that reduced environmental impact and community disruption compared to traditional pipe replacement methods.
