Structural Rehabilitation Impreg UV Liner

NUFLOW NORTHWEST SYDNEY
The Hills Shire Council | Baulkham Hills

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Nuflow was engaged to deliver structural rehabilitation works for a 300mm reinforced concrete stormwater pipe located at the corner of Vincent and Paul Court in Baulkham Hills. The project, referenced under #Q24-0147, required careful planning and execution, including site inspections, coordination with council representatives, and multiple mobilisations to overcome access challenges. Using the IMPREG UV structural liner system, the goal was to restore the integrity of the existing RCP without the need for disruptive excavation works.

CHALLENGE

During the preliminary inspections and preparation works, several issues were identified that required resolution before relining could take place:

  1. Access difficulties: Crews had trouble opening the stormwater pit and running the necessary ropes for liner installation.
  2. Obstructions in the host pipe: A section of concrete was blocking the pipe, preventing the liner from being pulled through.
  3. Debris build-up: Sediment and debris within the line required removal to allow for a clean rehabilitation process.
  4. Equipment issues: A final CCTV inspection attempt was delayed due to technical issues with the onsite camera, requiring re-attendance.

THE SOLUTION

To address these challenges, Nuflow applied a systematic approach that combined advanced technology with hands-on site work. The IMPREG UV liner was selected for its strength and ability to structurally reinforce the 300mm RCP, ensuring long-term service life without excavation.

THE RESULTS

The works restored the structural capacity of the 300mm reinforced concrete stormwater pipe at Vincent and Paul Court, extending its service life and eliminating the need for costly excavation. The use of the IMPREG UV liner provided a durable, trenchless solution that strengthened the asset while minimising surface disruption in a busy suburban location. Despite on-site challenges such as obstructions and equipment issues, Nuflow’s team successfully delivered the project through persistence, technical expertise, and coordination with council stakeholders.
