Plant Room Pipe Rehabilitation

NUFLOW NORTHWEST SYDNEY
RIVERSTONE SWIMMING CENTRE | BLACKTOWN CITY COUNCIL

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Nuflow was engaged to rehabilitate a 300mm steel and asbestos cement (AC) pipe within
the plant room of Riverstone Swimming Pool. The pipe, which was concrete-encased and servicing the main pool system, had deteriorated and required a trenchless solution to avoid costly and disruptive demolition. The project involved custom liner fabrication, flange reconstruction, and precise reassembly of fittings to restore the system to full operational capacity.

CHALLENGE

  1. Confined plant room environment – The pipe was located within a concrete-encased section of the plant room, creating restricted access and making traditional replacement unfeasible.
  2. Complex fittings and disassembly – Rehabilitation required unbolting and removing a 300mm elbow and PVC spacer, then reinstating them after relining.
  3. Custom flange and liner requirements – A stub flange needed to be re-created using custom-made liners, with trimming, drilling, and alignment works required to ensure a perfect fit.
  4. Post-installation pressurisation – Final re- pressurisation of the line was to be carried out by Blacktown Council, with allowances for potential bolt and fitting adjustments noted as an additional charge.

THE SOLUTION

To deliver a tailored trenchless rehabilitation, the Nuflow team implemented a staged approach:

THE RESULTS

The 300mm AC and steel pipe within the Riverstone Swimming Pool plant room was successfully
rehabilitated using Nuflow’s Blueline technology. Through the creation of custom liners, stub flange fabrication, and precise reassembly of fittings, the project restored the system’s integrity without invasive demolition. The works were delivered across multiple stages to ensure accuracy and compliance, while coordination with Blacktown Council provided a seamless handover for re-pressurisation. This trenchless approach minimised disruption, preserved the plant room structure, and extended the service life of critical infrastructure within the public swimming facility.

Nuflow was engaged by Bourke Shire Council to conduct a region-wide CCTV investigation of sewer and stormwater pipelines, surveying lines from 150mm to 300mm in diameter with specialised camera equipment to capture actionable condition data and prioritise urgent works for future rehabilitation.

Nuflow was engaged to carry out a CCTV investigation of a 375 mm stormwater line connected to a grated side entry pit on the Sunnyholt Road on-ramp of the M7 Motorway. Given the high-risk location on a major freeway, safety and traffic management were top priorities while advanced camera and tractor CCTV technology captured critical internal condition footage to inform future rehabilitation planning.

Nuflow was engaged to restore critical stormwater drainage and install a new stormwater pit at a NSW school site. The works resolved persistent ponding and flooding risks, ensuring reliable drainage for student safety and facility protection, all delivered with minimal disruption to school operations.
