Family Doctor Stormwater Pipe Rehabilitation

NUFLOW NORTHWEST
CASTLE HILL FAMILY DOCTORS – The Hills Shire Council NSW

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Nuflow was engaged to rehabilitate a deteriorating stormwater pipe located beneath Shop 4, the site of a former pharmacy. The 150mm terracotta line showed signs of advanced deterioration and presented a high risk of collapse if left unaddressed. Because the pipe was situated directly under a retail premises, excavation was not a viable option. A trenchless Blueline installation was identified as the most effective solution, providing a structural repair without disrupting the occupied building above.

CHALLENGE

  • High risk of collapse – The terracotta stormwater pipe had deteriorated to the point where further movement or stress could have led to collapse, requiring immediate rehabilitation.
  • Sensitive location – The pipe ran directly beneath a commercial tenancy, making excavation impossible without major business disruption and structural impact.
  • Pipe fragility – The existing terracotta host pipe was brittle and unstable, requiring a solution that could reinforce its structure without further damaging it.
  • Time and access limitations – As the worksite was within a shop space, the project needed to be completed efficiently, with careful attention to safety, access, and cleanliness.

THE SOLUTION

To ensure the stormwater system was restored without excavation or disruption, the Nuflow team applied a structured trenchless rehabilitation process:

THE RESULTS

The high-risk terracotta stormwater pipe beneath Shop 4 was structurally rehabilitated with a 150mm Blueline liner, eliminating the potential for collapse and extending the lifespan of the system well into the future. The trenchless approach ensured the occupied retail premises remained unaffected, with no excavation required and no disruption to the building’s structure or use. By applying this method, Nuflow provided a durable, cost- effective, and minimally invasive solution to a potentially critical infrastructure issue.

Nuflow was engaged to rehabilitate a 300 mm reinforced concrete stormwater pipe at Vincent and Paul Court in Baulkham Hills. Using the advanced IMPREG UV structural liner system, NuFlow restored the pipe’s strength and service life without disruptive excavation, overcoming access challenges and debris obstructions to deliver a durable trenchless solution that minimised surface disruption.

Nuflow was engaged to rehabilitate several stormwater pipe sections at a school site, addressing root intrusion, debris blockages and structural deterioration. Using CCTV inspection, high-pressure cleaning and Blueline trenchless relining, NuFlow restored reliable stormwater flow, improved structural integrity and extended the asset’s service life with minimal disruption to school operations.

Nuflow carried out essential rehabilitation works on a 17-metre section of 300 mm concrete pipe beneath Birrell Street to Bronte Road, addressing an illegal PVC-to-concrete connection and multiple cracks using trenchless techniques during night shifts to minimise community disruption.
