Rehabilitation of Visitor Centre Stormwater Strip Drains

NUFLOW NORTHWEST SYDNEY
ECHO POINT | BLUE MOUNTAINS CITY COUNCIL NSW

PROJECT OVERVIEW

NuFlow was engaged to rehabilitate a 41-meter length of stormwater strip (ACO) drains outside the Visitor Information Centre. The drains were badly deteriorated, with missing sections, corrosion, and leaking joints that required structural repairs and advanced re-lining. The project demanded precision preparation and reinforcement while ensuring safe pedestrian access and adapting to weather disruptions. Despite these challenges, NuFlow delivered a durable, watertight, and long-lasting drainage solution.

CHALLENGE

  • Severe deterioration of drains – multiple sections were missing, heavily corroded, or slipped out of place.
  • Water seepage issues – connections between drain lengths were poorly fitted, allowing water to escape into the ground.
  • Pedestrian safety requirements – fencing and access needed constant adjustment to allow safe passage for visitors and council staff.
  • Unpredictable weather – heavy rainfall slowed down work and delayed critical curing stages.
  • Complex site logistics – managing deliveries, equipment, fencing, and coordination with multiple stakeholders while ensuring works progressed safely.

THE SOLUTION

NuFlow delivered a structured, step-by-step approach to restore the strip drains, combining thorough preparation, advanced re-lining technology, and careful site management. Each stage of the solution was designed to ensure durability, safety, and minimal disruption to the public.

THE RESULTS

NuFlow successfully rehabilitated the 41-meter stormwater strip drain, transforming a heavily deteriorated and unsafe system into a structurally sound, watertight, and long- lasting drainage solution. Despite significant weather delays and logistical challenges, the project was completed efficiently and with minimal disruption to the Visitor Centre’s operations. The re-lined system now prevents water leakage into the ground, ensures safe pedestrian use, and extends the lifespan of the infrastructure for years to come.

Nuflow was engaged to fix persistent flooding and drainage failures behind C Block at a high school, where a compromised 225 mm PVC stormwater line was overwhelmed by silt, failed joints and root intrusions. Using CCTV inspection, high-pressure cleaning and Blueline trenchless relining with Ready Cure technology, NuFlow restored structural integrity and safe stormwater flow with minimal disruption to school operations.

Nuflow was engaged to carry out a CCTV investigation of a 375 mm stormwater line connected to a grated side entry pit on the Sunnyholt Road on-ramp of the M7 Motorway. Given the high-risk location on a major freeway, safety and traffic management were top priorities while advanced camera and tractor CCTV technology captured critical internal condition footage to inform future rehabilitation planning.

Nuflow was engaged by Bourke Shire Council to conduct a region-wide CCTV investigation of sewer and stormwater pipelines, surveying lines from 150mm to 300mm in diameter with specialised camera equipment to capture actionable condition data and prioritise urgent works for future rehabilitation.
