Maintaining Drainage During COVID -19

Due to many of us staying home and safe you probably didn’t realise how often you were using your drainage systems more frequently than normal during this time. With kids even staying home for some time, due to school closures, you may not have been as aware to see if something was thrown into the toilet or poured down the drain. This and a build-up of other common things such as:

  • Tree Roots
  • Kitchen waste
  • Flushable wipes
  • Sanitary products
  • Hair and soaps
  • Oils and fats

can lead to the cause of a blocked drain.

If you are unsure that you have a blockage here are some other signs that can identify if you have a blocked drainpipe:

  • Drains in your house (shower, bath, sink or toilet) are draining away slowly
  • Or water is not draining away at all
  • Toilets that back up instead of draining away
  • Drains that gurgle can be a sign of trapped air caused by blockages in your pipes

If you identify that you have a blocked drain or unexpected burst pipe you would automatically then call a plumber. This would usually be no problem for one, however, you may be somewhat cautious during the pandemic.

Now don’t be hesitant because plumbing is an essential service as it keeps our homes healthy and safe. Plus, it’s important to identify and fix blocked drains sooner rather than later, before they become major problems. Our Nuflow plumbers use the latest drain cleaning equipment to assist in clearing blocked drains and use a high-pressure water jet to cut through tough blockages.

With most states implementing new restrictions and relaxing distancing laws, while others are holding firm we must follow to continue to create and maintain a safe working environment for ourselves and our customers.

With enforcements like social distancing in place, which seems to be the new normal and as restrictions start to ease its important that the working environment is set up for social distancing as this ensures success in resuming normal operations.

In relation to Nuflow working at homes and not only making you and ourselves feel comfortable to visit, please let us know if you:

  • Have recently returned from overseas?
  • Have been in contact with someone who has tested positive to Covid-19
  • Have been unwell and/or are in self-quarantine?

How Nuflow is continuing to take precautions during the Pandemic?

During this time our network and technicians are staying up to date on each state’s guidelines and take care and precautions when going on-site to create a safe work environment. We use personal protective equipment (PPE), hand hygiene and respect the social distancing rules.
